Swiss composer Jürg Frey writes masterful soundscapes, calm and vast. With his sensitive ear for colour, sound and precision, he composes music of great serenity and lyricism; a poetic weightlessness in search of silence in sound. “My music is slow, sometimes static, often delicately shifting between standstill and movement. And yet, after more than an hour, this music has arrived at another place. Standstill, little happens, — it is this atmosphere from which my music emerges and to which it always returns. Sometimes it just stays there. This is my world.” With these words, Jürg describes his “String Quartet No. 4”, the third quartet he has composed for us, marking over 20 years of collaboration and mutual trust. — Quatuor Bozzini

Le compositeur suisse Jürg Frey écrit des paysages sonores magistraux, calmes et vastes. Avec son oreille sensible pour les couleurs, les sons et la précision, il compose une musique d’une grande sérénité et d’un grand lyrisme; une apesanteur poétique, à la recherche du silence dans le son. «Ma musique est lente, parfois statique, et oscille souvent délicatement entre l’immobilité et le mouvement. Et pourtant, après plus d’une heure, cette musique est arrivée à un autre endroit. À l’arrêt, il ne se passe pas grand-chose — c’est de cette atmosphère que ma musique émerge et où elle revient toujours. Parfois, elle y reste. C’est mon monde.» C’est par ces mots que Jürg nous parle de son «String Quartet No. 4» [Quatuor à cordes no 4], le troisième quatuor composé à notre intention et témoignant de plus de 20 ans de collaboration et de confiance partagée. — Quatuor Bozzini
